In December last year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales totaled 80,005 units, decreasing by 43.5 percent year on year, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the same month, Turkey's passenger car sales totaled 60,843 units, down 39 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in 2018, Turkey's motor vehicle sales amounted to 641,541 units, decreasing by 35 percent on year-on-year basis.
In 2018, Turkey's motor vehicle exports totaled 1,318,869 units, down by one percent, while passenger car exports decreased by five percent to 875,147 units, both year on year. In the same year, the country exported 372,954 small trucks, up 6.5 percent year on year. In 2018, revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports increased by 10.8 percent to $32.23 billion, while the revenues from passenger car exports totaled $12.42 billion, rising by 5.3 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In December last year, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 47,318 units, decreasing by 44.1 percent year on year, while passenger car imports totaled 38,533 units, down 43.4 percent year on year. In 2018, the country's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 397,266, falling by 36.4 percent, while passenger car imports totaled 322,916 units, declining by 36.2 percent, both compared to 2017.
