In December last year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales totaled 92,847 units, increasing by 16 percent year on year, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the same month, Turkey's passenger car sales totaled 70,829 units, up 16.4 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in 2019, Turkey's motor vehicle sales amounted to 491,909 units, decreasing by 23.3 percent on year-on-year basis.
In 2019, Turkey's motor vehicle exports totaled 1,252,586 units, down by five percent, while passenger car exports decreased by 5.3 percent to 828,744 units, both year on year. In the same year, the country exported 386,245 small trucks, down ten percent year on year. In 2019, revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports decreased by 3.1 percent to $31.23 billion, while the revenues from passenger car exports totaled $11.86 billion, falling by 4.5 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In December last year, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 49,125 units, increasing by 3.8 percent year on year, while passenger car imports totaled 40,333 units, up 4.7 percent year on year. In 2019, the country's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 277,070, falling by 30.3 percent, while passenger car imports totaled 230,078 units, declining by 28.7 percent, both compared to 2018.
