Turkish motor vehicle output up nine percent in 2016

In December last year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 156,115 units, rising by 24 percent year on year and up 3.6 percent month on month, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In 2016, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 1,485,927 units, up nine percent year on year.
 
In December alone, passenger car output amounted to 106,963 units, increasing by 43 percent, while commercial vehicle output totaled 49,152 units, down four percent, both on year-on-year basis. In 2016, passenger car output totaled 950,888 units, up 20 percent, and commercial vehicle production amounted to 535,039 units, down six percent, both compared to 2015.
 
The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry was 107 percent in December last year, while the rate was 86 percent in 2016.
