In May this year, Turkey’s motor vehicle output totaled 137,012 units, rising by 31.8 percent year on year and 21.5 percent month on month, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers’ Association (OSD). In the January-May period of the year, Turkey’s motor vehicle output totaled 616,342 units, up by 19.9 percent year on year.
In the given month, passenger car output amounted to 90,739 units, moving up by 35.1 percent, while commercial vehicle output totaled 46,273 units, up 25.7 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the January-May period of the current year, passenger car output totaled 386,427 units, growing by 30.4 percent, and commercial vehicle production amounted to 229,915 units, increasing by 5.2 percent, both compared to the same period of 2022.
The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry was 82.9 percent in May, while the rate was 74.9 percent for the first five months of the year.
