Turkish motor vehicle output up 14 percent in 2017

In December last year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 152,146 units, falling by three percent year on year and down 6.9 percent month on month, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In 2017, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 1,695,731 units, up 14 percent year on year, reaching the highest annual level since 2007.

In December alone, passenger car output amounted to 95,060 units, falling by 11 percent, while commercial vehicle output totaled 57,086 units, up 16 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In 2017, passenger car output totaled 1,142,906 units, up 20 percent, and commercial vehicle production amounted to 555,825 units, up three percent, both compared to 2016.

The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry was 94 percent in December last year, while the rate was 88 percent in 2017.
