In August this year, Turkey’s motor vehicle output totaled 73,020 units, decreasing by 21.2 percent year on year and 46.0 percent month on month, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers’ Association (OSD). In the January-August period of the year, Turkey’s motor vehicle output totaled 943,609 units, up by 13.3 percent year on year.
In the given month, passenger car output amounted to 49,300 units, down by 21.2 percent, while commercial vehicle output totaled 23,120 units, down 21.1 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the January-August period of the current year, passenger car output totaled 599,915 units, growing by 20.9 percent, and commercial vehicle production amounted to 343,694 units, increasing by 2.0 percent, both compared to the same period of 2022.
The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry was 44.5 percent in August, while the rate was 71.6 percent for the first eight months of the year.
