Turkish motor vehicle output down 8.6 percent in 2018

In December last year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 122,993 units, decreasing by 19.2 percent year on year and down 4.5 percent month on month, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In 2018, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 1,550,150 units, down 8.6 percent year on year.

In December alone, passenger car output amounted to 82,157 units, falling by 13.6 percent, while commercial vehicle output totaled 40,836 units, down 28.5 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In 2018, passenger car output totaled 1,026,461 units, declining by 10.2 percent, and commercial vehicle production amounted to 523,689 units, decreasing by 5.3 percent, both compared to 2017.

The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry was 73 percent in December last year, while the rate was 77.6 percent for the whole year.
