Turkish motor vehicle output down 29.4 percent in H1

In June this year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 103,273 units, decreasing by 5.4 percent year on year and up 63.5 percent month on month, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the January-June period of the year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 518,727 units, down by 29.4 percent year on year.

In June, passenger car output amounted to 74,264 units, rising by 0.3 percent, while commercial vehicle output totaled 29,009 units, down 17.2 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the first half of period of the current year, passenger car output totaled 362,397 units, decreasing by 26.5 percent, and commercial vehicle production amounted to 156,330 units, declining by 35.5 percent, both compared to the same period of 2019.

The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry was 62.1 percent in June, while the rate was 51.8 percent for the first six months of the year.
