In March this year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 132,189 units, decreasing by 17.1 percent year on year and up 10.6 percent month on month, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the January-March period of the year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 361,516 units, down 15 percent year on year.
In March, passenger car output amounted to 87,348 units, falling by 17.4 percent, while commercial vehicle output totaled 44,841 units, down 16.6 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the January-March period of the current year, passenger car output totaled 238,822 units, declining by 16.3 percent, and commercial vehicle production amounted to 122,694 units, decreasing by 12.4 percent, both compared to 2018.
The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry was 76.9 percent in March, while the rate was 70 percent for the first quarter of the year.
