Turkish motor vehicle output down 13.1 percent in April from March level

In April this year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 138,504 units, decreasing by 7.1 percent year on year and down 13.1 percent month on month, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the January-April period of the current year, Turkey's motor vehicle output totaled 563,695 units, decreasing 1.7 percent year on year.

In April alone, passenger car output amounted to 90,789 units, falling by 10.9 percent, while commercial vehicle output totaled 47,715 units, up 1.1 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In the January-April period of 2018, passenger car output totaled 375,957 units, down 6.5 percent, and commercial vehicle production amounted to 187,738 units, up 9.7 percent, both compared to the same period of 2017.

The overall production capacity utilization rate of the Turkish automotive industry was 83.7 percent in April this year, while the rate was 85.3 percent in the January-April period of the year.
