New motor vehicle registrations in Turkey up 98.3 percent in May

According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in May this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey increased by 24.5 percent month on month and rose by 98.3 percent year on year to 223,541 units.

New passenger car registrations in May totaled 86,816 units, increasing by 28.2 percent as compared to April and advancing by 86.2 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 38.8 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations in the given month.

On the other hand, new small truck registrations in May amounted to 19,377 units, moving up by 9.7 percent month on month and by 68.3 percent year on year. Small truck registrations constituted 8.7 percent of total new registrations in the given month.
