According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in May this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey decreased by 4.7 percent year on year to 110,500 units and were up by 11.3 percent on month-on-month basis.
New passenger car registrations in May totaled 64,238 units, increasing by 17.8 percent as compared to April and down 9.7 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 58.1 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations in the given month.
On the other hand, new small truck registrations in May decreased by 2.3 percent month on month and were down 2.2 percent year on year, amounting to 16,876 units. Small truck registrations constituted 15.3 percent of total new registrations in May.
