According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in May this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey increased by 29.6 percent month on month and fell by 9.8 percent year on year to 52,080 units.
New passenger car registrations in May totaled 22,748 units, rising by 15.7 percent as compared to April and down by 16.2 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 43.7 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations in the given month.
On the other hand, new small truck registrations in May amounted to 4,595 units, increasing by 3.5 percent month on month and declining by 29.8 percent year on year. Small truck registrations constituted 8.8 percent of total new registrations in May.
