New motor vehicle registrations in Turkey down 9.1% in May

According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in May this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey decreased by 9.1 percent year on year to 100,403 units and were up by 3.1 percent on month-on-month basis.

New passenger car registrations in May totaled 55,727 units, rising by 1.1 percent as compared to April and down 13.2 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 55.5 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations in the given month.

On the other hand, new small truck registrations in May increased by 20.1 percent month on month and were down 12.1 percent year on year, amounting to 14,827 units. Small truck registrations constituted 14.8 percent of total new registrations in May.
