New motor vehicle registrations in Turkey down 34% in August

According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in August this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey decreased by 34 percent year on year to 63,752 units and were down by 40.9 percent on month-on-month basis.

New passenger car registrations in August totaled 36,817 units, falling by 34.4 percent as compared to July and down 41.8 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 57.8 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations in the given month.

On the other hand, new small truck registrations in August decreased by 46.2 percent month on month and were down 61.4 percent year on year, amounting to 6,767 units. Small truck registrations constituted 10.6 percent of total new registrations in August.
