New motor vehicle registrations in Turkey down 23% in August from July

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in August this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey increased by 24.2 percent year on year to 109,170 units and were down by 23 percent on month-on-month basis.
 
New passenger car registrations in August this year totaled 62,908 units, falling by 27.3 percent as compared to July and down 43.3 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 57.6 percent of total new motor vehicle registrations in the given month.
 
On the other hand, new small truck registrations in August decreased by 20.2 percent month on month and were up 26.3 percent year on year, amounting to 15,939 units. Small truck registrations constituted 14.6 percent of total new registrations in August this year.
