The Russian mining and steel producing company Evraz Holding (Evraz) has announced the delivery for export of the first batch of high quality rails produced at its subsidiary Nizhny Tagil Iron and Steel Works (NTMK).

Accordingly, 4,000 mt of 350HT rails were delivered to Lithuanian Railways for the reconstruction of railways for combined passenger and cargo traffic. The rails were produced by new equipment installed at NTMK in 2010, within the program for the reconstruction of its rail mill, which will allow the plant to more than double the output of rails from 263,000 mt to 550,000 mt per year.

NTMK delivers rail products to Russian Railways, and also exports them to the Baltic States, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, as well as to Turkey, Iran and Iraq.

NTMK delivers about 2,000 mt of rails per month to the Baltic region. Currently, NTMK is negotiating with Lithuanian Railways on further deliveries in 2011.
