Automotive sales in Turkey up 64.7 percent in January-August

In August this year, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey rose by 78.9 percent year on year and decreased by 23.1 percent month on month to 86,454 units, according to the statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD). In the given month, domestic sales of passenger cars in Turkey moved up by 87.7 percent year on year and fell by 23.0 percent month on month to 66,131 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles increased by 55.1 percent year on year and decreased by 23.4 percent month on month to 20,323 units.

In the January-August period this year, domestic sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles saw an increase of 64.7 percent year on year, amounting to 755,282 units. In the given period, domestic sales of passenger cars in the country grew by 61.7 percent to 582,419 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles rose by 66.4 percent to 172,863 units, both on year-on-year basis.
