US HDG exports down 9.5 percent in September

According to export data from the US Department of Commerce, US exports of hot dipped galvanized sheet and strip totaled 126,124 mt in September 2023, down 9.5 percent from August but up 26.9 percent from September 2022. By value, HDG exports totaled $172.0 million in September, compared to $192.0 million in the previous month and $143.0 million the same month last year.

The US shipped the most HDG to Canada in September with 64,104 mt, compared to 72,625 mt in August and 48,763 mt in September 2022. Other top destinations included Mexico, with 61,641 mt. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 mt or more) for US HDG exports in September.
