In October this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales totaled 93,789 units, increasing by 10 percent year on year, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the same month, Turkey's passenger car sales totaled 70,488 units, up 11 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the first ten months of this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales amounted to 736,484 units, remaining stable on year-on-year basis.
In the January- October period of the current year, Turkey's motor vehicle exports totaled 1,103,344 units, up 22 percent, while passenger car exports increased by 34 percent to 769,095 units, both year on year. In the same period, the country exported 283,537 small trucks, down three percent year on year. In the period in question, revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports increased by 21 percent to $23.77 billion, while the revenues from passenger car exports totaled $9.73 billion, rising by 54 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In October, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 61,597 units, increasing by four percent year on year, while passenger car imports totaled 50,676 units, up four percent, year on year. In the January- October period of this year, the country's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 472,675, falling by six percent, while passenger car imports totaled 382,503 units, declining by nine percent, both compared to the same period of 2016.
