In October this year, Turkey’s motor vehicle sales totaled 105,145 units, up by 4.2 percent compared to September and increasing by 52.2 percent year on year, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers’ Association (OSD). In the same month, Turkey’s passenger car sales totaled 82,611 units, up 74.1 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the January-October period of this year, Turkey’s motor vehicle sales amounted to 999,858 units, growing by 61.6 percent on year-on-year basis.
In the first ten months of the current year, Turkey’s motor vehicle exports totaled 832,080 units, up 6.8 percent, while passenger car exports increased by 20.8 percent to 540,304 units, both year on year. In the same period, the country exported 234,488 small trucks, down 16.3 percent year on year. In the given period, revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports advanced by 15.5 percent to $29.29 billion, while the revenues from passenger car exports totaled $8.9 billion, rising by 24.7 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In October, Turkey’s total motor vehicle imports amounted to 65,119 units, up by 0.5 percent month on month and rising by 72.3 percent year on year, while passenger car imports totaled 52,482 units, down by 0.1 percent compared to the previous month and up by 76.7 percent, year on year. In the January-October period of this year, the country’s total motor vehicle imports amounted to 633,018 units, moving up by 85.2 percent, while passenger car imports totaled 504,510 units, increasing by 83.5 percent, both compared to the same period of 2022.
