In February this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales totaled 25,612 units, decreasing by 47.5 percent year on year, according to the monthly statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Manufacturers' Association (OSD). In the same month, Turkey's passenger car sales totaled 19,205 units, down 46.5 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the January-February period of this year, Turkey's motor vehicle sales amounted to 40,459 units, decreasing by 52.6 percent on year-on-year basis.
In the first two months of the current year, Turkey's motor vehicle exports totaled 199,497 units, down 7.5 percent, while passenger car exports decreased by 14.1 percent to 128,147 units, both year on year. In the same period, the country exported 57,591 small trucks, down 0.2 percent year on year. In the period in question, revenues from total motor vehicle and component exports decreased by 4.2 percent to $4.96 billion, while the revenues from passenger car exports totaled $1.76 billion, falling by 12.6 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In February, Turkey's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 14,604 units, decreasing by 51.3 percent year on year, while passenger car imports totaled 11,614 units, down 51.7 percent, year on year. In the January-February period of this year, the country's total motor vehicle imports amounted to 23,012, falling by 55.4 percent, while passenger car imports totaled 18,390 units, declining by 55 percent, both compared to the same period of 2018.
