In August this year, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey increased by 37.17 percent year on year and were down by 1.5 percent month on month to 82,577 units, according to the statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Distributors Association (ODD). In the given month, domestic sales of passenger cars in Turkey increased by 36.83 percent year on year and were down by 3.8 percent month on month to 61,753 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles rose by 38.2 percent year on year and were up by 6.1 percent month on month to 20,842 units.
Meanwhile, in the January-August period this year domestic sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles increased by 47.18 percent year on year, amounting to 598,963 units. In the given period, domestic sales of passenger cars in the country increased by 42.93 percent year on year to 453,817 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles rose by 62.25 percent to 145,146 units, both on year-on-year basis.
