In May this year, Turkey’s cold rolled coil (CRC) imports rose by 36.7 percent month on month and by 112.0 percent year on year to 90,745 mt, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports was $74.35 million, increasing by 44.3 percent compared to April and by 63.3 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, in the January-May period of this year, Turkey’s CRC imports amounted to 358,289 mt, up 41.3 percent year on year, while the revenue generated by these imports totaled $278.52 million, advancing by 5.1 percent compared to the same period of 2022.
In the first five months of this year, South Korea ranked first among Turkey’s CRC import sources, supplying 160,641 mt, up 282.6 percent year on year, while South Korea was followed by Russia with 90,468 mt.
