In August this year, Turkey’s coking coal imports declined by 25.3 percent month on month and rose by 26.3 percent year on year to 385,907 mt, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, the value of these imports decreased by 34.4 percent compared to the previous month and by 34.3 percent year on year to $88.10 million.
In the January-August period of this year, Turkey’s coking coal imports moved down by 4.2 percent to 3.09 million mt, while the revenue from these imports amounted to $883.63 million, down 32.3 percent, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey’s coking coal imports from Australia amounted to 1,696,918 mt, while coking coal imports from the US totaled 748,072 mt.
