Taiwan's basic metal output up 2.99 percent in Feb from Jan

Taiwan's industrial production index in February this year decreased by 1.85 percent compared to January and was up 20.34 percent year on year, according to the country's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). Meanwhile, Taiwan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index in February declined by 5.16 percent compared to the previous month and rose by 5.48 percent year on year.

In February this year, industrial output in the country's basic metal manufacturing sector increased by 2.99 percent and output of metal product manufacturing was up by 14.29 percent, both compared to the previous month. In addition, on year-on-year basis, in February this year output of the basic metal manufacturing sector rose by 6.3 percent and the metal product manufacturing sector output advanced by 23.22 percent.

Meanwhile, in February this year, production in Taiwan's machinery and equipment industry increased by 9.19 percent, while output in the automotive industry was up by 22.66 percent, both year on year.
