Taiwan’s industrial production index in May this year increased by 10.92 percent compared to April and decreased by 15.73 percent year on year, according to the country’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). Meanwhile, Taiwan’s seasonally adjusted industrial production index in the given month increased by 3.02 percent compared to the previous month and decreased by 16.81 percent year on year.
In May, industrial output in the country’s basic metal manufacturing sector fell by 4.95 percent and output of metal product manufacturing increased by 13.15 percent, both compared to the previous month. In addition, on year-on-year basis, in the given month output of the basic metal manufacturing sector dropped by 21.09 percent and output of the metal product manufacturing sector moved down by 6.38 percent.
Meanwhile, in May this year, production in Taiwan’s machinery and equipment industry was down by 12.2 percent, while output in the automotive industry went up by 29.44 percent, both year on year.
