Taiwan’s industrial production index in April this year declined by 14.11 percent compared to March and by 22.86 percent year on year, according to the country’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). Meanwhile, Taiwan’s seasonally adjusted industrial production index in the given month decreased by 5.09 percent compared to the previous month and by 20.79 percent year on year.
In April, industrial output in the country’s basic metal manufacturing sector fell by 4.08 percent and output of metal product manufacturing decreased by 16.56 percent, both compared to the previous month. In addition, on year-on-year basis, in the given month output of the basic metal manufacturing sector dropped by 11.57 percent and output of the metal product manufacturing sector moved down by 17.31 percent.
Meanwhile, in April this year, production in Taiwan’s machinery and equipment industry was down by 24.72 percent, while output in the automotive industry fell by 2.94 percent, both year on year.
