Russian steelmaker NLMK Group has announced that it has begun delivering transformer steel which will be used to manufacture core plates for power transformers to Siemens’ Voronezh-based plant. The first two shipments were made from Novolipetsk, NLMK’s Lipetsk production site in June and July, while the steelmaker is expected to make monthly deliveries to the Siemens plant in question.

According to the statement, NLMK has been already supplying plates, transformers and dynamo steel to Siemens’s plants located in Germany, Austria, Hungary, UAE, Brazil, Columbia and Mexico since 2010, while the company’s deliveries to Siemens totaled 6,100 mt of transformer steel in 2014 and amounted to 3,500 mt in the first half of this year.

“NLMK is among the global leaders in production of hi-tech steel products such as transformer steel. We continue to work on expanding our range of transformer steel, for example by developing new high-permeability grades, to be on the cutting-edge of innovation and help our clients lead in their respective fields,” stated Ilya Guschin, NLMK Group vice president for sales.
