New car registrations in EU up 4.3 percent in January-June

In June this year, new passenger car registrations in the EU increased by 4.3 percent year on year to 1,089,923 units, according to the European association of car manufacturers ACEA.

In the given month, three major markets, namely Italy (+15.1%), Germany (+6.1%) and Spain (+2.2%) observed increases, while new registrations declined by 4.8 percent in France.

In the first six months of this year, new car registrations grew by 4.5 percent year on year to 5.7 million units. Modest growth was recorded in the region’s largest markets over the period, with Spain leading with a 5.9 percent increase, followed by Germany (+5.4%), Italy (+5.4%) and France (+2.8%).
