Japan’s new ship export orders increased in March 2026 from February

According to the data released by the Japan Ship Exporters’ Association (JSEA), Japanese new ship export orders in March this year moved up by 458.9 percent on tonnage basis compared to the previous month, increasing to 27 ships, including 1 container ship, 21 general cargo ships and 5 tankers, compared to 8 ships recorded in February, totaling 1.55 million gross tons.

In the first three months of this year, Japanese shipbuilders received new export orders for a total of 44 ships with an aggregate of 2.27 million gross tons, up 5.2 percent year on year.

On the other hand, in March, Japan delivered 24 ships for export, totaling 1.18 million gross tons, compared to 14 ships totaling 640,678 gross tons recorded in February.

Meanwhile, in the January-March period this year, Japan delivered 60 ships for export, totaling 2.74 million gross tons, increasing by 8.6 percent year on year.
