According to the data released by the Japan Ship Exporters’ Association (JSEA), Japanese new ship export orders in February this year moved down by 99.9 percent on tonnage basis compared to the previous month, declining to 14 ships, compared to 29 ships recorded in January, totaling 783,500 gross tons, including 14 bulk carriers and five tankers.
In the first two months of this year, Japanese shipbuilders received new export orders for a total of 48 ships with an aggregate of 1.92 million gross tons, up 101.3 percent year on year.
On the other hand, in February, Japan delivered 22 ships for export, totaling 957,647 gross tons, compared to 14 ships totaling 637,241 gross tons recorded in January.
Meanwhile, in the January-February period this year, Japan delivered 36 ships for export, totaling 1.59 million gross tons, growing by 11.7 percent year on year.
