Italy’s Acciaierie d’Italia restarts BF No. 2 at Taranto

Italian steelmaker Acciaierie d’Italia has restarted the blast furnace No. 2 at its Taranto plant, according to media reports. The furnace had been shut down for ten months since July 2022 for maintenance works. The resumption is expected to lead to a recovery in the company’s production.

The plant was operating with blast furnaces No. 1 and No. 4 when blast furnace No. 2 was undergoing maintenance.

Acciaierie d’Italia plans to produce four million mt of crude steel in 2023 and five million mt in 2024.
