According to the latest data released by Federacciai, the Italian federation of steel companies, in March 2026 crude steel production in Italy totaled 2.1 million mt, up from 1.9 million mt in February, while up 0.2 percent on year-on-year basis. In the first three months of this year, Italian crude steel production rose by 1.5 percent year on year to 5.6 million mt.

As for long products, the monthly output amounted to 1.3 million mt in March, up 8.6 percent year on year, whereas flat product output totaled 818,000 mt, down by 10.3 percent year on year. In the January-March period, Italian long steel production amounted to 3.4 million mt, up 8.5 percent year on year, whereas Italian flat steel production decreased by 6.7 percent year on year to 2 million mt.
