Italian crude steel output declines slightly in March

Italian producers' crude steel output declined by 0.4 percent year on year in March this year, to 2.227 million mt, as per the latest report issued by the Italian steel association Federacciai.

In the first quarter of 2019, Italian crude steel production was 6.284 million mt, down 2.1 percent year on year. However, the first quarter output this year was higher compared to the 6.176 million mt recorded in the first quarter of 2017 and also compared to the 5.805 million mt recorded in the same period of 2016.

Finally, in the first quarter of 2019, Italy's long steel output amounted to 3.206 million metric tons, decreasing by 2.4 percent year on year. In the same period, Italian flat steel output totaled 2.858 million metric tons, increasing slightly by 0.3 percent year on year.
