India’s Jindal Steel Limited (JSL) has marked the completion of its 6 million mt expansion of its steel mill in Angul, Odisha, with the firing of the third basic oxygen furnace 3 (BOF3), a company statement said on Tuesday, March 24.
Following the firing of the blast furnace and completion of the expansion project, the capacity of JSL’s Angul steel mill now stands at 12 million mt per year. JSL’s total installed capacity across its operations in the country now stands at around 15 million mt per year.
The expansion encompasses the complete operationalization of BOF 2 and BOF 3, supported by a comprehensive suite of associated facilities. The project includes upstream and downstream infrastructure development to ensure seamless integration and capacity ramp-up, the company said.
The expanded capacity is positioned to deliver multiple operational and financial benefits. The increased production capability is expected to drive higher volumes and improve capacity utilization rates, directly supporting revenue growth initiatives.
