Indian crude steel production down 1.4 percent in December

Indian crude steel production in December 2018 totaled 8.94 million mt, down 1.4 percent year on year, according to data released by the Joint Plant Committee (JPC) under the Ministry of Steel and the sole official compiler of industry data.

The data showed that during the April-December period of 2018 large domestic steel producers, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), Tata Steel, Essar Steel, JSW Steel and Jindal Steel and Power Limited together produced 47.462 million mt, while another 31.52 million mt was contributed by other small and medium-scale steel producers.
