European commercial vehicle registrations up 5.1 percent in Q1

In March this year, new commercial vehicle registrations in the European Union (EU) rose by 4.1 percent year on year to 272,272 units, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA).

In March, among major EU markets, the UK saw the biggest uplift (+10.3%), followed by Germany (+8.7%) and Spain (+4.9%). By contrast, demand contracted in Italy by 3.4 percent in March, while French volumes remained more or less similar to last year.

In the first three months of this year, new commercial vehicle registrations in the EU totaled almost 654,657 units, up 5.1 percent on year-on-year basis. Germany (+12.8%), the UK (+8.9%), France (+4.4%) and Spain (+3.1%) all saw increases. Italy, however, saw a slight decline in demand (-0.5%).
