European commercial vehicle registrations up 15.9 percent in January-September

In the January-September period this year, new commercial vehicle registrations in the European Union (EU) increased by 15.9 percent year on year to 1,372,480 units, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA).

In the given period, almost all EU markets saw double-digit percentage gains in truck registrations, including the five largest: Germany (+31.2%), Spain (+23.8%), Italy (+17.0%), France (+15.6%) and Poland (+10.9%).  

New EU bus registrations also had a solid first nine months in 2023, as sales rose 18.5 percent year on year to 23,645 units. In terms of sales volumes, France led the way with 4,735 units sold, representing an 18.5 percent increase. Other major markets also reported substantial growth: Italy (+65.9%) and Spain (+58.1%).
