In March this year, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey increased by 3.45 percent year on year and were up by 62.4 percent month on month to 76,345 units, according to the statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Distributors Association (ODD). In the given month, domestic sales of passenger cars in Turkey increased 7.52 percent year on year and were up by 66.5 percent month on month to 59,798 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles decreased by 9.01 percent year on year and were up by 48.96 percent month on month to 16,547 units.
Meanwhile, in the first quarter of 2018, domestic sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles saw an increase of 1.5 percent year on year, amounting to 158,430 units. In the given period, domestic sales of passenger cars in the country increased by 5.47 percent to 122,310 units, while sales of light commercial vehicles decreased by 9.99 percent to 36,120 units, both on year-on-year basis.
