Two Izmir-based Turkish steel producers have increased their ship scrap procurement prices by $3-5/mt, with the general price range settling at $320-351/mt, $3/mt higher on the upper end. As a result, ship scrap prices have reached a very similar level to the prices of deep sea premium scrap grades, though the lower end of ship scrap has remained stable for months now. The upper end of the ship scrap market is represented by the producers that are largely working with local scrap, sources state.
In Turkey’s Izmir region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:
| Producer | Price ($/mt) | Price change ($/mt) |
| Özkan Demir Çelik | 350 | +5 |
| Habaş | 320 | 0 |
| Ege Çelik | 351 | +3 |
| İDÇ | 342 | 0 |
| Medfer | 335 | 0 |
All the above prices are for delivery to mill by truck.
