As Turkey’s import scrap market has indicated a sharp price increase in the current week, Turkish mills have also adjusted their ship scrap procurement prices. Some Izmir-based producers have been focusing on ship scrap purchases for some time and are seeking not to disclose their price levels. This week, though, new price levels have been shared by sources in the region, with local ship scrap purchase prices increasing to $375-380/mt CPT. Ship scrap prices are expected to remain firm in the coming period as uncertainties persist regarding deep sea vessel availability and oil prices.

In Turkey’s Izmir region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:

Producer   Price ($/mt)
Özkan Demir Çelik 375
Habaş 380
Ege Çelik 377
İDÇ 380

All the above prices are for delivery to mill by truck.
