Despite the previous reports setting the general price range in Turkey’s ship scrap market at $320-358/mt, market sources in the Izmir region now report that ship scrap quotations have consolidated at $358/mt in offers shared by Turkish mills. “Even higher than this level sometimes works, depending on the appetite of the buyer,” a source reported today, November 21. It is unusual for ship scrap prices to remain higher than deep sea scrap quotations. Currently, Turkey’s ex-US HMS I/II 80:20 scrap prices are at $355.5/mt CFR, indicating that Turkish producers’ focus on and high demand for domestic scrap throughout the year have provided significant support for the ship scrap segment.
In Turkey’s Izmir region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:
| Producer | Price ($/mt) |
| Özkan Demir Çelik | 358 |
| Habaş | 358 |
| Ege Çelik | 358 |
| İDÇ | 358 |
All the above prices are for delivery to mill by truck.
