As anticipated by SteelOrbis and due to continuing pessimism, Turkey’s ship purchase scrap prices have declined by $20/mt on the lower end and by $2/mt on the upper end today as compared to the levels recorded on April 21. As a result, Turkey’s ship scrap purchase prices have dropped to $320-340/mt. Downward pressure continues to build up on the ship scrap market resulting from the most recent decrease observed in the deep sea segment which has been in freefall for the second consecutive week.
In Turkey’s Izmir region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:
Producer | Price ($/mt) | Price change ($/mt) |
Özkan Demir Çelik | 325 | -15 |
Habaş | 320 | -20 |
Ege Çelik | 326 | -16 |
İDÇ | 340 | 0 |
All the above prices are for delivery to mill by truck.
