Turkey’s ship scrap market prices have followed the trend in the import segment, increasing to $360-365/mt CPT. Market sources report that Izmir-based producers are trying to secure flow to their yards as ship scrap is advantageous for them. After rising above Turkey’s import scrap prices in December, ship scrap prices are now in line with deep sea prices. Having said that, the ship scrap market still has further upward potential.

In Turkey’s Izmir region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:

Producer   Price ($/mt) Change
Özkan Demir Çelik 360 0
Habaş 360 +2
Ege Çelik 360 +2
İDÇ 365 +7

All the above prices are for delivery to mill by truck.
