Turkey’s ship scrap prices remain stable

The general range of Turkey’s ship purchase scrap prices has remained stable since May 12 at $320-340/mt. Some price adjustments have been made by Turkish steel producers in this period depending on their needs for ship scrap. The stable trend of the ship scrap market reflects the previous sideways movement of the import segment, which has only recorded a decline very recently. The decrease in import scrap quotations may be reflected in the ship scrap segment in the coming days.

In Turkey’s Izmir region, the ship scrap purchase prices of local steelmakers are as follows:

Producer   Price ($/mt) Price change ($/mt)
Özkan Demir Çelik 335 -5
Habaş  320 0
Ege Çelik  336 +1
İDÇ  340 +10

All the above prices are for delivery to mill by truck
