As of today, July 4, Izmir-based Turkish mills have increased their ship scrap procurement prices by a sharp $10-35/mt, to secure the tonnages they need in the coming days. The general range is now at $355-370/mt, up from the $335-350/mt recorded on Friday, June 1. The total increase observed in Turkey’s ship scrap market is $10-35/mt since the beginning of July, depending on the mill.
Turkey’s ship scrap prices declined by a total of $115-130/mt in the month of June, and this recovery is considered slight for now, taking into account the month-on-month comparison.
