India-based NMDC’s iron ore output to meet expectations despite monsoon

Indian state-run miner NMDC Limited has reported iron ore production of 14.66 million mt for the April-October period this year, down eight percent year on year, including 10.50 million mt at its Chhattisgarh assets and 4.16 million mt at its Karnataka assets, according to a company statement.

NMDC said its total sales in the April-October period were 15.43 million mt, down 9.9 percent year on year, including 11.59 million mt in Chhattisgarh and 3.84 million mt in Karnataka.

In October this year, the company’s iron ore output was 2.43 million mt, down by 2.4 percent compared to the same month last year. “In spite of the coronavirus challenges and heavy monsoon, the company’s performance is really commendable and it is on the right path to meet the expectations of the steel industry,” Shri Sumit Deb, NMDC chairman, said.
