Brazil exported 5,700 mt of niobium ferroalloys in August, 15 percent more than in July, at an average FOB price of $22,624/mt.
Exports by CBMM, the world’s largest producer, went up by 17.5 percent to 4,800 mt at $22,412/mt, while exports by the local arm of Anglo American went up 2.9 percent to 800 mt at $23,856/mt, both FOB conditions.
The increase chiefly reflects exports to Asian countries increasing by 28.3 percent to 2,878 mt, of which 1,313/mt to China, a 34.7 percent increase. Meanwhile 1,498 mt were shipped to the Netherlands, where CBMM has a distribution center.
Other destinations were the US (762 mt at $25,058/mt), Russia (380 mt at $20,058/mt) and Canada (104 mt at $24,906/mt).
In the Brazilian domestic market, niobium ferroalloys are sold in a price range of $20,400/mt to $21,300/mt, CFR full taxes conditions, an increase of 15 percent from one month ago.
