According to SteelOrbis sources, niobium producer CBMM is keeping the current domestic price for niobium ferroalloys, BRL 65,000/mt ($20,179/mt), ex-works, full taxes conditions, until the end of March 2017.
Such price is reportedly stable since April 2016, as part of a long term deal.
In December, Brazil exported 4,600 mt of niobium ferroalloys at $20,321/mt, FOB conditions, a reduction in volume from November by 11.4 percent, while the average price declined slightly.
CBMM, the world’s largest producer, exported 3,252 mt at $20,622/mt, while China Molybdenum, which acquired the Anglo American plant in the state of Goias, exported 1,289 mt at $19,613/mt, both FOB conditions.
The main destinations of December were Asia (2,284 mt, of which 1,865 mt to China), the EU (970 mt), Russia (320 mt) and the US (273 mt), while smaller tonnages were shipped to Canada, Africa and Turkey.
